Welcome to the St. Ignatius Library!

The library consists of almost,8000 books in both the fiction and nonfiction categories, as well as software, movies, and music.  In recent years the library has seen extensive renovations, including new shelves, tables, chairs, and the creation of a complete electronic catalogue, making it easier than ever to find the books you need!

Parent Volunteers/Parent Hours

Mrs. Petek is always looking for parent volunteers to participate as library aides during school hours. This is a great way to fulfill your parent hours and get to know your child’s classmates! If your child’s library time is not convenient, you are welcome to work during another class’s library time. Please refer to the library schedule featured on this website, then contact Mrs. Petek.

Other Parent Hour Opportunities

• Helping to set up book fairs.
• Staffing book fairs.

Library Policies

At this time, the maximum number of books your child may have checked out at one time is limited by grade level.

• TK-2nd – two books.
• 3rd-5th – three books.
• 6th-8th – four books.

Each book is checked out for 21 days, and can be renewed twice. There are no fines.

In the event that a book is missing, you will receive an overdue notice via your child. Your options are:

• Return the book to the library

• Send the library a replacement copy. Please include a note with your child’s name and indicate that it is a replacement copy for a lost book.

• Send the replacement cost (cash or check) in an envelope to the school office. Please mark the envelope “LIBRARY,” include your child’s name, and indicate that it is payment for a lost book. If the book is found, you may request a refund.

Book Donations

We are always happy to accept your used book donations. Books may be dropped off at the school office or library. Books that are not needed for the library or classrooms are donated to charity, usually St. Vincent de Paul or the SPCA .

We also love donations of age appropriate videos/DVDs (G and PG rated), music CDs, computer software, and video games. The children will be able to check out these items. Also, the library can use CDs of quiet, soothing music to be played during library time.

If you wish to donate or contribute new books, please see the “Friends of the St. Ignatius School Library” website, which can be found at: http://www.stignatiussacschool.org/parent_club/library/, or contact Mrs. Petek for suggestions
