Saint Ignatius school is blessed and fortunate to have a vibrant
art program held in a dedicated art room equipped with tech
abilities and space for using a wide variety of art materials.
The St.Ignatius Parish School Art Program follows the California
State Visual Arts Content Standards for 1st through 8th grades,
along with activities including religious art and seasonal,
thematic art projects. The Preschool, Transitional-Kindergarten,
and Kindergarten teachers provide hands-on art experiences in
their homeroom classrooms, so those grades don’t go to the
separate art classes in the Art Room. The First through Eighth
grade students receive additional art instruction once a week
with the art teacher in the Art Room, an art-studio-style
environment designed to facilitate all aspects of visual art
media, from viewing reproductions of famous artworks to drawing
to painting to clay sculpting and all manner of creative
expression. The program also involves introduction to various
artists, periods in art history and cultures, art appreciation
and critique, and an annual student art show which coincides with
the school’s open house. An art club is also available to
students in grades five through eight who wish to further pursue
their interest in art (Art Club meetings have been modified to
meet current school protocols during this time of continued
pandemic).
We were thrilled to bring back the St Ignatius Student Art Show in 2020 in our brand new school building! We hope you were able to enjoy the exhibit, which showcased our amazing students' creative talent. We're unable to have an in-person art show in 2021To see more pictures of our past art shows, click on the Art Show Photo Gallery in the Curriculum tab.2020-2021 Virtual Art Show slideshow video https://drive.google.com/file/d/1Ix9eXSTSXjF1aJQNsUC_SM6dr5Z6CMjd/view?usp=sharing
The above photo was taken prior to the pandemic in the Fall of
2019. This year, due to continued Covid protocols, Art Club
meeting dates will be separated by grades so that not all
grades are attending the same meetings together at the same time.
Students should see Mrs. Domek for specific meeting dates for
different age groups. All meetings will be held on Thursdays
during lunch recess.
