Class Rules/Discipline

• Be kind and thoughtful to one and all.
• Stay in your seat.
• Raise your hand before speaking.
• Do not interfere with teaching or with another student’s learning.

Consequences

• Warning from the teacher
• Signing the clipboard and earning a detention
• Signing the Clipboard more than three times in one trimester results in Morning Detention (served Tuesdays or Thursdays from 7:15-7:45 in the 7th or 8th Grade classrooms) and a letter drop for the Citizenship/Conduct grade.

Assignments

Each student is responsible for completing all work neatly and in a timely fashion. Homework is expected to be returned the following, day unless instructed otherwise. All late assignments will lose points. An assignment will not be accepted after the fourth late day. If a student is absent, he or she has the number of days absent plus one to finish any assignments and make up missed tests. All graded work will be sent home on Friday in a “Friday Folder.” Please look through this folder and ask your child about the work in it. Any assignment that earns a grade lower than a C- will be signed by a parent, corrected by the student, and returned the next day. If a student fails to return a parent signature paper, the student will receive detention and not have recess until the paper is returned. 

Homework

Homework should average 45-60 minutes per night. Please help your child with the new responsibilities of Fifth Grade by asking him or her about assignments and reminding them of the importance of doing work on time.
