Educational Achievement Specialist
St Ignatius is dedicated to recognizing the uniqueness of each student and assisting them in reaching their individual potential. One of the many programs we offer to achieve this is the Resource Program directed by a full-time Educational Achievement Specialist (EAS).
The EAS works alongside parents, students, and teachers to support the social, emotional, spiritual, and academic growth of every student. As part of the Resource Program, the EAS offers both individual and class-wide standardized reading and math assessments throughout the year to monitor student progress.
When additional needs are identified, our EAS collaborates with other personnel to understand a student’s particular learning style and provide individualized strategies for academic and/or behavioral success as seen in Student Support Team (SST) meetings. These strategies may include: accommodations in the classroom, 1-on-1 or small group instruction using specialized programs, additional materials for home support etc.
They also attend public school SST and IEP meetings on students’ behalf in order to understand and implement any additional academic supports recommended, as well as to advocate for students to receive district services such as Speech Therapy and Psycho-Educational Assessments when applicable.
